If you have a senior in high school, it might be time to start thinking about things like the graduation party and the graduation gift. Many parents are giving practical high school graduation gifts now, gifts that their children can use long after the money they would otherwise have given them was spent. Smart parents are giving their children college gear for their graduation. This is the time to start shopping for the best laptops for college.
The best laptops for college don’t necessarily have to be the most expensive laptops. In fact, the best laptops for college might actually be the more inexpensive ones. Do you really want to spend $2,500 on a laptop that will sit in an empty dorm room, or a room with your child’s college roommate
and all of their friends going in and out? You remember how responsible you were with your things in college. Your child won’t be any different. The best laptops for college might just be an inexpensive laptop with just the features that a college kid needs.

USB Flash drive is also called a USB Pen drive. It is very small in size and very safe and fast to access. You can store your data’s and can carry along with you anywhere you go, now you don’t need to take your laptop or Floppy Disks or Hard Drive.
There are few products that are as easy to use as the USB pen drives. They simply connect to the USB port of a Windows PC or Apple Mac and can be used to backup data’s, you can save photos, or just move your data’s from one computer
to another.
Saving data onto solid state storage is very safe, as there are no moving parts, so the USB memory stick is a good option if you need to backup or carry important data around. It is also very small in size but big on capacity also works fast.

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a great new technology which is taking the web by storm. The strange thing is, very few people have actually heard of it. You have probably seen Stylesheets in action on many websites. Anywhere you see a text link change color when you move your mouse over it probably uses stylesheets.
Why Should I Use Them?
This is actually a very good question. Why should you learn a new web language just so that links on your site change color? Some people even say this is tacky. CSS actually has a lot more use than that. Image being able to change what an HTML tag does, to be able to update a whole site by changing one file. It is possible with CSS.
Cascading Style sheets let you do many things you could never do before. If you want to change the <a> tag to always display text in bold, red, underlined you could do it with Cascading Style sheets. If you later decided you wanted it green, font size 6 with no underline you could change it just as easily. You can even link to a stylesheet file from the pages on your site. When you update the stylesheet file you can see the updates in the rest of your site.
Stylesheets also allow you to do things you never could with HTML. You can set background colors for text, you can indent text using centimetre values and you can place items exactly where you want them on a page. Most of this can be done from a linked file and can be updated quickly.

Introduction
Today the internet is very different to it used to be. Several years ago, if you made a website you were assured of visitors as there were so few sites on the internet. Now, with several hosting companies having over half a million web sites on their servers it is much harder to get the visitors. Just recently, the search engine Google announced it had information on over 2 billion web pages.
Luckily it is not all bad news. Today there are over 200 million people on the internet and thousands of people are getting connected every day. The main problem you will face is getting your site noticed above all the others because, even if you have the best site ever, nobody will know that until they visit it.
Where To Start
There are thousands of places and ways to publicize your site. Basically, you must think to yourself, “How do I find sites?” The first thing you are likely to think of is Search Engines. They are the first place you should publicize your site. Secondly, you probably follow links from other pages. This is a very important way, which we will cover in more detail later.
To publicize your site well, all you need to do is follow this tutorial. We cannot guarantee that your site will be very popular after this but you should certainly get enough visitors to make your site worthwhile.

In this tutorial you will find out about the .htaccess file and the power it has to improve your website. Although .htaccess is only a file, it can change settings on the servers and allow you to do many different things, the most popular being able to have your own custom 404 error pages. .htaccess isn’t difficult to use and is really just made up of a few simple instructions in a text file.
Will My Host Support It?
This is probably the hardest question to give a simple answer to. Many hosts support .htaccess but don’t actually publicise it and many other hosts have the capability but do not allow their users to have a .htaccess file. As a general rule, if your server runs Unix or Linux, or any version of the Apache web server it will support .htaccess, although your host may not allow you to use it.
A good sign of whether your host allows .htaccess files is if they support password protection of folders. To do this they will need to offer .htaccess (although in a few cases they will offer password protection but not let you use .htaccess). The best thing to do if you are unsure is to either upload your own .htaccess file and see if it works or e-mail your web host and ask them.

Domain Name News received word today that PriveCo Inc has purchased Vibrators.com for $1 Million. The Michigan based company has been running the website at Vibrators.com since 2002. PriveCo runs several other e-commerce websites focusing on the sale of items which people often prefer to buy in privacy via the internet. Some of PriveCo’s sites include ShopInPrivate.com, Bachelorette.com, BacheloretteParty.com, BacheloretteParties.com and SexToyParty.com.
A few people have raised a concern that the sale looks suspicous, as the domain has not changed ownership according to the whois records. DNN spoke to PriveCo President Tom Nardone on the phone and he gave us the exact details of the transaction. Priveco has closed on the deal to buy the domain outright, but whois ownership has not changed because the current owner is financing the deal. Priveco made a six-figure down-payment on the domain name and will be paying the rest off over the next few years with an 8% interest rate.
UPDATE : Nardone gave me the original numbers but I kept them out of the story as a courtesy to keep some of the specifics on the deal private. Since TechCrunch just released added those, we’ll put them up too. PriveCo paid $200,000 down and will pay $800,000 off over 5 years at 8% interest.

The termination of ICANN-accredited registrar EstDomains is to go ahead, effective 24 November 2008.
On 28 October 2008, ICANN sent a notice of termination to EstDomains, Inc. (EstDomains) based on an Estonian Court record reflecting the conviction of EstDomains’ then president, Vladimir Tsastsin, of credit card fraud, money laundering and document forgery.
Pursuant to Section 5.3 of the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA), ICANN may terminate the RAA before its expiration when, “Any officer or director of [a] Registrar is convicted of a felony or of a misdemeanor related to financial activities, or is adjudged by a court to have committed fraud or breach of fiduciary duty, or is the subject of judicial determination that ICANN deems as the substantive equivalent of any of these; provided such officer or director is not removed in such circumstances.”
ICANN received a response from EstDomains on 29 October in which it indicated that the Estonian Court record on which ICANN relied was not final and had been appealed. ICANN pended the termination of EstDomains’ RAA to analyze the claims made by EstDomains and to obtain independent information regarding the status of the alleged appeal.

There’s nothing like having to replace something before it’s time. When a car, for example, starts breaking down four years after purchase, the owner unexpectedly has to pull together the financing for another vehicle and go through the painful lease or purchase process. Or a television goes out right in the middle of your favorite program when you fully expected it to last at least another two years. It seems nothing lasts as long as it used to—and it can be an expensive surprise.
This can be also true of computers, and in business it can be as expensive as or even more expensive than some car or a television. A company budgets its funds for a quarter or for a year, and having an unexpected hardware failure necessitating a replacement or upgrade turns that budget on its ear. It becomes imperative for an IT department to maintain that hardware and get as much life out of it as possible—and when it comes to hard drives, file fragmentation can rob a good portion of that life.
A hard drive is the only computer component that has mechanical, moving parts that can break down. Every time a file is requested, a read/write head must move across the disk platters and retrieve that file, and file fragmentation adds additional movements for every fragment. Because the free space on a drive is also fragmented, the same holds true for writing a file: the read/write head will have to keep moving until it has written all the fragments of a file in the free spaces available.

An Ethernet crossover cable is a cable that can be used to create a very simple computer network. To create a computer network, one must join at least two computers together for sharing program files and data. Sometimes, computer networks are extremely complex, involving many computers, as well as routers and hubs. Each of these computers interacts and shares data with the others.
While this may be necessary for large organizations, sometimes there is a need for only a very small network of two or three computers. These Local Area Networks, or LANS, have been designed to communicate via Ethernet cables since the late years of the 20th century. Crossover cables are very similar to standard Ethernet cables. They are more effective, however, because they allow the operator to join two computers without requiring the presence of a hub or router, and permit each computer to communicate with the other. This simple design, which differs from a standard cable only in that the crossed wires allows the two computers to both send and receive information from each other, is very effective.

We certainly do live in an electronic world and this can present some very specific problems for those of us that take advantage of it. For example, many of us tend to use mobile computers in order to stay in touch and they can be destroyed quickly if they are overheated. It is not only the laptop itself that needs to cool down; it’s also the individual components that need to be taken into consideration. When you are looking for laptop coolers, sometimes known as notebook coolers, here are some things for you to keep in mind.
The first thing that needs to be cooled down is the CPU itself. It doesn’t matter what kind of CPU you use, they are all susceptible to damage from heat. There are specific fans that can take care of Intel’s CPU cooling and others that will take care of AMD CPU cooling. Although the CPU fans can often be used, regardless of what type of chip you have in your computer, there are cases in which the fan needs to be chip specific. Make sure you understand what is inside of your laptop before you purchase something to keep it cool.
Something that also needs to be taken into consideration is how much noise the CPU fans are going to make. Some of them can actually get quite noisy so it is something that you need to ask about ahead of time. Most of us would prefer having silent CPU fans so that we do not have to listen to the hum while we are working. It is not always necessary for us to have one that is totally silent, however, because there are also some quiet PC cases that do a good job of restricting the amount of noise that escapes to our ears.
