Cost Per Action or CPA (sometimes known as Pay Per Action or PPA) is an online advertising pricing model, where the advertiser pays for each specified action (a purchase, a form submission, and so on) linked to the advertisement.

Direct response advertisers consider CPA the optimal way to buy online advertising, as an advertiser only pays for the ad when the desired action has occurred. An action can be a product being purchased, a form being filled, etc. (The desired action to be performed is determined by the advertiser.) Google incorporated this model into Google AdSense [1] but shut down the offering in June 2008[2]. eBay has recently announced a similar pricing called AdContext.

The CPA can be determined by different factors, depending where the online advertising inventory is being purchased.

CPA as “Cost Per Acquisition”
CPA is sometimes referred to as “Cost Per Acquisition”, which has to do with the fact that most CPA offers by advertisers are about acquiring something (typically new customers by making sales). Using the term “Cost Per Acquisition” instead of “Cost Per Action” is not incorrect. It is actually more specific. “Cost Per Acquisition” is included in “Cost Per Action”, but not all “Cost Per Action” offers can be referred to as “Cost Per Acquisition”.

eCPA
A related term, eCPA or effective Cost Per Action, is used to measure the effectiveness of advertising inventory purchased (by the advertiser) via a CPC, CPM, or CPT basis.
eCPA is used to measure the effectiveness of advertising inventory purchased (by the advertiser) via a CPC, CPI, or CPT basis. In other words, the eCPA tells the advertiser what they would have paid if they purchased the advertising inventory on a CPA basis (instead of a CPC, CPM, or CPT basis).

Good company provide CPA program:

* Google started testing CPA on 2006. On June 2007 Google expanded its beta trial, opening it to users of AdWords

* eBay has moved into CPA advertising with its AdContext system on 2006

* Snap.com, CPA pioneer and later merged with other to form NBC Internet (NBCi), has long touted the advantages of the CPA model, such as the elimination of click fraud.

* ViralyticsMedia.com, Created the first CPA e-mail marketing network in the Fall of 2007..

* Jellyfish.com was the Internet’s first comparison shopping search engine to operate exclusively on a Cost Per Action (CPA) ad model, has a patent pending on an improvement over CPA where part of the ad revenue goes to the customer, and has been bought by Microsoft for integration into Live Search.

* Hydra, LLC launched the first-ever exclusive, fully transparent CPA network, called Hydra Elite in 2008.

This article is intended to teach you step by step how to get started and more importantly, make money using affiliate marketing. We will teach you how to start a home based affiliate business. Please leave us comments, questions, or success stories so that we can improve this guide. You will find other affiliate related guides and articles on the lower section of this page.

What is affiliate marketing? “Affiliate Marketing” is a popular method of promoting web businesses in which you (the affiliate) are rewarded for every visitor, subscriber and/or customer provided through your efforts, much like the practice of paying finder’s-fees for the introduction of new clients to a business. Compensation may be made based on a certain value for each visit (Pay per click), registrant (Pay per lead), or a commission for each customer or sale (Pay per Sale), or any combination of the three.
make money ebay

Affiliate Marketing is one of the best ways to make money online because there is little to no scamming or fraud. In fact, many home based affiliate business owners rely on affiliate marketing for their entire income.

First, let’s take a look at the overall concept of Affiliate Marketing. The process starts when a company has a successful product to offer. The company will build a web site and offer that product to the consumer (or internet user). The next hurdle the company has to overcome is getting web traffic to their site. After all, they can have a kick-butt product but if nobody knows about it, they won’t make a dime.

This is where you, the affiliate marketer comes into play. As an affiliate you will have or build a web site that generates traffic and then “refer” part of that traffic to a partner company. The program works well for both the company selling the product and the affiliate because both parties make money in the process and each helps the other become more successful.

For the purpose of this article and the goal of assisting you to make money with Affiliate Programs, we will only be looking at the Cost Per Lead (C.P.L.) commission structure. A C.P.L. program is advantageous because you simply need to convince your traffic to provide their information to your partner company. You can read more about a real life example of the C.P.A. model here.
Cost Per Lead:

A cost per lead affiliate program will pay for each person or “lead” that is referred to your partner’s web site. A Lead is any personal information that a visitor submits to a company for the purpose of allowing the company to solicit their product or services.

Here is a rough example: Let’s say that a company offering a “make money with affiliate marketing ebook” makes an average of $40.00 profit from each sale made on their web site. They know, based off of web site statistics and sales, that one in four customers will buy their product or “convert” as it is commonly referred to. They can then offer an affiliate a certain amount of money (we will use $16.00 for our example) for each person they refer to their web site that generates a lead.

So, if an affiliate gets 100 people each month to click on an ad and fill in their information on the company’s web site they would make $1600.00. The company would have made $4,000 from the referrals and it will have only cost them the $1600.00. Again, both the company and the affiliate succeed in with this method because the company has extra sales it would not have had without the home based affiliate business and the affiliate gets paid for a product they do not manage or own.

Now, I don’t know about you but as for myself, I don’t mind having an extra $1600.00 each month from a website that maintains itself. Now, imagine having 10 web sites that all do the same thing for different affiliate programs.

Can anyone make money as an affiliate? Well, yes all you really need is determination and dedication. Use our building a web site guides and start making money with affiliate programs today.

But first, some theory. CPM means cost per thousand impressions. That means, that after 1000 views of ad, You will be given some revenue, no clicks required, You’re getting revenue jsut for showing it on Your Site. Every traffic is counted differently nad it is based on where do You get the traffic, most valuable are United Kingdom and U.S.A traffic (because most of companies are from these countries), but other countries have also decent CPM rate.
