Jeffrey Dean Morgan was born April 22, 1966, in Seattle, Washington. Athletics were his first passion when he was growing up in Kirkland, and at Lake Washington High School, he excelled in basketball and went to college with the goal of turning pro. An injury sidelined his sports career for good, so he started a graphics design company while acting on the side. Roles in popular stage productions like West Side Story and Grease followed, as did an inevitable move to L.A.

Once settled in Los Angeles, Jeffrey Dean Morgan enjoyed his first taste of film work with a role in the forgettable 1991 thriller Uncaged. He continued to dabble in films, but more attention came from television thanks to guest roles on hits like Sliders, Walker, Texas Ranger and ER.
